International Society for Nutritional Psychiatry Research conference held in Bethesda, Maryland was the pathbreaking conference in the field of mental health and psychological disorder. The meeting was mainly focused on the nutritional benefits of Mental health problems and illnesses.
Psychiatric presentations showed up in the conference was on the diet suitable for the people suffering from mental health like food containing Omega 3 fatty acids, micronutrients, microbiome research and the Mediterranean diet. There were a lot of discussions on Ketogenic diet benefits used for more than 100 years for the epilepsy patients and they worked wonders and helped a lot in curing them. Ketogenic diets are low carb diets which have a lot of benefits for other kinds of brain disorders.
The explanation given by Dr. Plamer to other doctors and scientists from Harvard’s McLean Hospital in Belmont, MA, says that for any psychiatric it is very hard to treat the patients suffering from schizoaffective disorder. A lot of medication is given to these kinds of patients but they do not seem to work and it involves side effect. Instead, the doctors tried Ketogenic diet and with it, the patient lost the lot of weight which is not only required but the level of disorder reduced drastically and the condition improved which was unimaginable.
Proper prescribed diet not only helps in reducing weight but also helps in improving the living condition of the patients which in turn helps in curing any kind of mental disorder even if it is severe. Antipsychotic medication helps the patients but they have the severe side effect which gives rise to other problems like weight gain and other. They normally act as insulin resistance which leads to the low process of carbohydrates. These types of medication lead to heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and even Alzheimers. So instead of all these medicines it is always good to intake ketogenic diet which lowers the insulin, keeps the heart condition better and controls the weight of the body.
